Learning about Land Reform

Students from Peking University-Michigan Joint Institute’s Summer Social Science class went into a poor village to interview farmers on microfinance projects. However, the conversation with old farmer Mr. Liu Yichun turned into a discussion on peasant-landlord relations before and during the land reform in the late 1940s. (Students: Zhao Shanshan (PKU), Liu Qing (PKU), Tong Zhifeng (People’s University), Jomo Smith (Michigan), and farmer Liu Yichun).
